Values are nominal production figures, tested per batch. Density, wall thickness and colour are produced to the customer's specification.
— means the value is identical for Class B and Class 0.
Inner diameter 6–89 mm (1/4″–3-1/2″) · wall thickness 6–50 mm (1/4″–2″). Intermediate sizes produced on request.
A closed-cell NBR core with a fluorocarbon fibre covering: the core does the insulating, the covering takes the environment. Use it where the standard tube would fail at the surface rather than in the wall.
Ultraviolet is what destroys an unprotected foam surface, not temperature. The covering is rated to +180 °C and is formulated to resist UV and oxidation, which is what makes an outdoor run possible without a metal jacket.
Where airborne chemical exposure, salt or wash-down would attack an exposed foam surface. The covering resists chemical attack and abrasion; the closed-cell core keeps the thermal performance.
Where pipework is climbed over, walked on or washed. The covering provides abrasion resistance at the surface while the core stays intact.
Metal cladding on small-bore or complex pipework is slow and expensive. A covered tube gives protection in one step, on bends and fittings as well as straight runs.
Three things to fix at enquiry, and one to check honestly:
Covering properties we publish: peel strength ≥ 350 N/m and burst ≥ 2.0 MPa (site data). These describe the covering's mechanical performance; they are not a fire classification and should not be read as one.
On most outdoor runs, yes — the covering is formulated for UV, oxidation and abrasion, which is the job a metal jacket does. Where the specification demands a metal finish for impact or fire reasons, use metal; where the requirement is weather and UV, the covered tube is faster to install and cheaper on complex geometry.
Covering: −10 °C to +180 °C. Core: −57 °C to +125 °C. The lower of the two governs, so the core is the limit on hot lines — above +125 °C this product is not the right choice and mineral wool is.
The vapour resistance comes from the closed-cell NBR core (μ ≥ 10,000). The covering's job is mechanical and environmental protection. Joints still need to be glued and taped, and ends sealed.
We publish peel strength ≥ 350 N/m and burst ≥ 2.0 MPa. If your specification asks for a particular test standard or a fire classification for the covering, send the clause and we will tell you exactly what we can and cannot document before you order.
