Values are nominal production figures, tested per batch. Density, wall thickness and colour are produced to the customer's specification.
— means the value is identical for Class B and Class 0.
Inner diameter 6–89 mm (1/4″–3-1/2″) · wall thickness 6–50 mm (1/4″–2″). Intermediate sizes produced on request.
A closed-cell tube with a vacuum-formed skin rather than a moulded foam surface. The material is the same; the surface is different — smoother, denser at the face, and free of fibre.
Where the insulation becomes part of the cleanable envelope. A smooth, non-shedding surface can be wiped, whereas an open foam surface traps dust and cannot be cleaned to a validated standard.
The same argument: exposed pipework in a classified room, where the surface has to withstand routine cleaning and not release particles into the space.
Where the insulation is visible and hygiene is assessable. A smooth face also resists surface soiling, so it stays presentable without repainting or jacketing.
Some specifications exclude fibrous insulation in the occupied space for air-quality or contamination reasons. This product is fibre-free, which is a requirement rather than a benefit to be sold.
Same four inputs as the standard tube — the skin changes the surface, not the thermal calculation:
The vacuum-formed skin is not a vapour barrier in its own right — the closed-cell wall with μ ≥ 10,000 is. Joints still need to be glued and taped, and on a smooth surface the tape or adhesive has to be the matching closed-cell product so it bonds to the skin.
The surface. The foam is the same closed-cell NBR and the thermal and moisture data are the same; the skin is vacuum-formed, which gives a smoother, denser face that resists dust pickup and can be wiped. Thickness selection does not change.
No. The vapour resistance comes from the closed-cell wall (μ ≥ 10,000), not from the surface skin. On a chilled line the joints still have to be glued and taped, and the ends closed at flanges, valves and supports.
That is what it is produced for: fibre-free, smooth and cleanable, so the insulation can be part of a controlled environment instead of an accumulation point. Confirm your cleaning agents with us if they are aggressive.
Yes, and it is the sensible way to specify it: smooth tube on the exposed runs, standard tube in the ceiling void and plant areas where the surface is never seen. Same calculation, same insulation, one cost decision.
